Interior drawing, scanned, sketched, digital or photo models (found/made)
Purpose
There are three types of orthographic projections: plan, sections and elevations. The purposes of these drawing are for design and working.
Both these drawings purpose can also be changed by the scale and the level of detail. The smaller the scale, the less detail and the larger the scale, the more detail.
Line Type and Weights Different line weights are used to give depth to the drawings. The 0.5mm is used to create a bold line for drawing walls, columns and elements closest to viewing position. The 0.35mm is used to create a medium line for drawing the minor elements of the plan. The 0.25mm is used to create a thin line for drawing minor elements of plan. The 0.18mm is used to create a very thin line for drawing the details to the surface materials. Plans There are 4 types of Plans
Sections The sections are a vertical cut through the building. These drawings would show the more important spaces. With theses section drawings there would be section lines drawn onto the floor plans, showing exactly where the section is cut through. Elevations The external elevations are a vertical cut made outside the building, with a horizontal view. After being put into groups we started to make our group blog, this will help to show our progression over the course of the project. On our group blog we will post our drawings, research, computer work (with Harvard referencing applied when needed) and feedback that we will receive from our tutors and peers. On our first day we had learned the importance of Harvard referencing.
Within our group we assigned different orthographic drawings to each member. There were 5 types of orthographic drawings (site sections, floor plans, elevations, sections and site plan), that we had delegated to each member. We allocated the blog work to different members of the group, for example someone had to research the architect while another person researched about the house. We made sure that all the work was split up fairly and equally. In the pictures below shows our group working hard on the first day and the start of my site section drawing. |
